About Ox Road Tire & Auto Service

Ox Road Tire & Auto Service is one of the tire shops listed in Fairfax, Virginia. The business is registered at Fairfax, VA 22032; use this page to check its hours, phone number and Google rating before you make the trip.

Tire shops sell and install new tires, patch punctures, balance wheels and, at most locations, align the suspension. Prices are quoted per tire plus mounting, balancing, valve stems and a state disposal fee for the old set; many shops price-match and include free rotation and flat repair for the life of the tire. Used tire shops sell inspected take-offs for a fraction of the price of new ones, useful for an older car or a single replacement, but check the tread depth (4/32 inch or more) and the DOT date code, since rubber ages even on the shelf. Mobile tire services come to your driveway or the roadside, commercial shops handle semi, trailer, farm and off-road tires, and wheel shops repair and refinish bent or curb-scraped rims.

The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. The most common schedule is 8 am–5 pm. Note that it does not open on Sunday. I was initially wary due to the mixed reviews but I have to say that these guys are honest and good to do business with. They put my car up immediately and when there was no work to be done they didn’t even charge me. Monjay the mechanic was great. They brought me in and showed me exactly what was going on and what to look for. I’ve had two encounters with this shop so far and both have been superb. The gentleman working the front desk (sorry forgot his name) was extremely kind and helpful, and they are transparent about their charging policies and what to expect. They don’t generate work that doesn’t need to be done. As a young woman who is always nervous about being taken advantage of regarding my car I can say this shop is very honest and decent. Good service, quick, honest - safe to say I’ll never be going back to another dealer mechanic again. Highly recommend!

The first issue is how I was treated by one of their staff members, Chuck. After I stepped out from the office, he told meβ€”very abruptly and rudelyβ€”that he wouldn’t touch the car because there was no battery in it. I understand that a technician may have the right to refuse service in such cases, but the way he delivered that message was unnecessarily harsh. I had just purchased the car, and instead of offering guidance, he said, β€œGet an Uber home, bring a battery, do whateverβ€”but I’m not touching this car.” It felt unnecessarily dismissive and condescending. As a first-time customer, I had only stopped in once before to get air, and that experience had a really positive energy, which is why I came back. This time, however, it was very disappointing. I was then charged $85 for laborβ€”even though I only came in for a patch, and nothing was actually wrong with the tire. Chuck spent maybe 15 minutes on the car, if that. Under the Virginia Automobile Repair Facilities Act (ARFA), I believe that labor charges like that are supposed to be disclosed beforehand, especially when no actual repairs were needed or performed. To add to that, some of Chuck’s comments seemed almost like he was

This was the third place I went to (try to) get my annual safety inspection. First one was closed for inspections and second was by appointment only. This place is on my way to work, so I gave it a shot. They came out immediately, got me in and out in about ten minutes. I wasn't even late for work! This is definitely going to be my regular inspection place.

I had a great experience getting my emissions renewed for registration. Peggy and Tommy helped me as a first customer, and I was so thankful for their friendly and sincere demeanor! They were both helpful and went above and beyond! My emissions were completed in under a quarter hour and with stupendous customer service! I will be sure to come back again and recommend this business to my neighbors. Thank you again!!
